U.S. Drift HyperFest 2008
Where & When:
Summit Point Motorsports Park
What Happened:

After winning last year at HyperFest, everyone was aiming to take James down. There were more drifters than ever this year, and the competition was fierce.
For 2008, we have built an all new drift car. After successfully racing the RB26 powered 240SX for a few seasons, a new chassis and engine combo was used. We are now drifting a 2003 Nissan 350Z powered by a Chevrolet LS1. With over 400WHP and gobs of torque to match, the set up is proving to be very potent and very reliable with the large NA motor.
The new car was unveiled at this years HyperFest in Summit Point, West Virginia. It was essentially the first drift event entered with the new car, and James competed with very little experience behind the wheel. Learning very quickly how the car behaved on the fast track, James was able to advance through the qualifying sessions in 5th place.

Later Saturday afternoon the contest started. Eliminations went quick as the field of 16 qualifiers was narrowed down. As the new car was put to the test, James had to fight the factory differential, which kept opening up mid drift on the long straightaway. Knocking out his first two opponents, James made it to the final four, but was unable to hold off the top two drivers which resulted in a third place finish.
