This customer came to us looking to upgrade his Acura 2.3 CL. The first step in upping his power was a JDM H22 engine swap. A few months later and he was back in our shop looking for even more power. After some deliberation it was decided that we would fabricate a custom turbo set up.
The main reason for a custom turbo kit is that there is no bolt on kit offered for an H22 in the Acura 2.3 CL. The second reason is the customer wanted to retain the factory power steering and air conditioning.
Because of the tightness under the hood we fabricated a schedule 40 stainless steel log style manifold to position the turbo where it needed to be. Then a custom turbo down pipe and wastegate dump tube were made, followed by a complete custom intercooler setup.
Our specialty here at JE is import vehicles, but when a domestic owner comes looking for power we will try to help any way we can. The owner of this GMC Typhoon wanted to replace the stock turbo and intercooler system on a budget.
Shown here is a turbo adapter we built to bolt onto the stock turbo manifold. This was needed to relocate the Precision T3/T4 60 trim turbo. Also shown is the JE pro fab downpipe and wastegate dump tube.
The finished product is a very clean install of the Precision turbo, complete with 31x12x3 inch intercooler and JE pro fab stainless steel intercooler pipes.
